Burt was born on July 8, 1945, as Bert John Gervis Jr. in Los Angeles, California. He was taken to his father, Bert John Gervis, who owns a travelling ice show called “Rhapsody On Ice”.
Burt was an energetic youth and was enlisted in the journal publication Strange as It Seems as a white-coloured Ice Skater at the mere age of two. He was often called by the name Sparky, often for how his skates would craft sparks while skating or his dynamic nature. During high school, the American actor excelled in sports such as wrestling, track and field and football. Sparky was also an honourable member of the chess club and practised Taekwondo.
