Brittney attended Fairfix High School and later studied International Development Studies in 2005 at UCLA. She focused on her abroad programs in Italy and Spain at UCLA. Shipp learned Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University later. Shipp started her work at UCLA; she was the general assignment reporter in its television news program. During her college time, Shipp worked as an intern at KTLA. She was the news assistant for LA’s ABC7 Eyewitness News. 

After completing her studies at UCLA and shifting to Arizona, Shipp worked at KYMA, an NBC affiliate, for two years in Yuma. She did special features and weather for the morning news on weekdays. Later, Shipp went to Phoenix and worked for five years at 3TV’s Good Morning Arizona. She mentored the elementary school kids in a Junior Forecasters Program conducted at Arizona Science Center. From 2013 to 2016, Brittney worked as a meteorologist at NBC10 News. At NBC10 News, she made an appearance on Early Today. Shipp was also on MSNBC’s Way Too Early, Morning Joe, and First Look. Brittney worked at KRON4 for half a decade and resumed her work at NBC10 as she returned. 

Apart from her journalism work, Brittney is the author of a children’s book called The Meteorologist in Me. She believes in giving back what she receives. Brittney supports Habitat for Humanity, The Muscular Dystrophy Association and The Arizona Humane Society.
